ENTRY O1

MyVision Oxfordshire

Submitted by: Margaret Hart

About My Vision Oxfordshire: Navigating a world designed by sighted people is not easy when you have a visual impairment. MyVision Oxfordshire provides the estimated 24,000 blind and visually impaired people across the county with services, support, tools, and skills they need to make everyday life and tasks easier. Our services and projects include information and advice, social groups, counselling, technology training, events and information for children and young people, and befriending partnerships. All our services contribute to our overall aim: to ensure local visually impaired people have the practical skills, support, and emotional resilience to live independent, active lives. “I can’t fault MyVision. Everything I felt I needed: advice, befriending, technology support, a sympathetic ear; it’s all there!”

Website: https://www.myvision.org.uk/

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? A diagnosis of sight loss can be extremely distressing, and it is often difficult to know where to turn to, or who to ask if you have questions. Many blind and visually impaired people face digital exclusion when accessing the internet, information is not always accessible, and so it’s harder for them to discover what support is out there. It does not have to be this way. Branding a bus, and having the wonderful opportunity to work with Get Radio and Oxford City would give us invaluable visibility within the county, making it much easier for local visually impaired people who may not know about us learn who we are and how we can support them in their sight loss journey. With this visibility, we could reach even more people, so that as many local blind and visually impaired people as possible can benefit from our services, and live life to the fullest. Voting for us to Brand the Bus would be crucial to helping improve the independence, confidence, and wellbeing of blind and visually impaired people living in Oxfordshire – thank you.

AT The Bus: Art as therapy, on a double decker

AT The Bus

Submitted by: Jocelyn Atkinson

About AT The Bus: AT The Bus provides transformational art as therapy to children and young people in Oxfordshire and London aged 5-16 who are struggling with their mental health and to engage in school. This year we will support over 600 children in Oxfordshire, delivering weekly group sessions in eight school studios- including our converted double-decker bus (based at Cherwell School). Each session involves talking, sharing books, eating together and individual and group art- making. The work supports children and young people to thrive with new- found confidence, resilience and independence as they experience success through creativity, learn to express their emotions and make new friends.

Website: https://www.atthebus.org.uk/

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? The Oxford Bus Company were instrumental to our creation in 2018, donating a bus (now converted studio) which enabled us to begin our journey to tackling the mental health needs of children and young people in Oxfordshire. In just five years, we have grown significantly and are now operating in over 8 schools in the county but know there is still huge un met demand for our unique intervention. We are proud of our beginnings, and would like to work with you to promote this fantastic partnership which has benefitted over 2,500 young lives to- date. A future branding opportunity will: Raise awareness of children and young people's mental health needs, encourage conversations about art and wellbeing in the community. Promote 'AT The Bus' services to new audiences, schools, and partners. Help to put our charity on the map and enable us to reach many more children and young people in Oxfordshire.

Neighbourhood Watch

Oxford Neighbourhood Watch

Submitted by: Maggie Lewis

About Oxford Neighbourhood Watch: I am the Area Representative and Administrator of ONW Neighbourhood Watch in Oxford is a group of volunteers that work locally in their roads to prevent and reduce crime in partnership with local police. They share information to build community resilience and support older and vulnerable people. All volunteers receive a window sticker to deter crime and also email messages about crime prevention, community safety and related matters.

Website: https://www.ourwatch.org.uk/

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? We need to be more visible in our communities and need more members and Coordinators in our communities. Most members register after a crime but more visibility would mean that they may consider joining and help to prevent crime. We aim by using stickers and road signs to deter crime and the support of the Bus Company would help support our local area. OBC and ONW would be a powerful deterrent in itself. A visual reminder that residents can protect themselves and others is the core aim. Last year we had a new user-friendly logo showing our community commitment. Watchers are the 'eyes and ears' of the community - Bus Branding would give us more.

SSNAP

Support for Sick Newborns and their parents

Submitted by: Emily Byrne

About SSNAP: SSNAP support the neonatal unit of the John Radcliffe Hospital. We work continuously, 365 days a year on the unit with a trained and experienced Family Care Team to support both parents and staff. When needed, we continue to purchase life saving equipment to support unit work and fund over half the NHS staff to attend further education and training courses externally.

Website: https://www.ssnap.org.uk/

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? SSNAP do not receive any statutory funding. Everything that we receive to run the charity is through the generosity of fundraisers and individual donors. Having exposure to a wider audience who may not have experienced the neonatal unit themselves would be a fantastic opportunity.

Sobell House - Local Hospice Lottery

Sobell House Hospice Charity

Submitted by: Becca Thomson

About Sobell House Hospice Charity: Sobell House Hospice offers specialist palliative and end-of-life care to those facing life-limiting illness in Oxfordshire. This encompasses physical, psychological, social and spiritual care and includes supporting a patient’s family and those close to them. Sobell House currently cares for around 4,000 patients and families every year on our inpatient unit, in the local Oxford hospitals and in people's homes. Our services are free to use, but they are costly to run, so we rely on fundraising and donations to keep them going. We aim to make sure that excellent palliative and end-of-life care is available to everybody in our community who needs it. Our mission is to enrich the lives of our patients and those who love and care for them, helping people to live as well as they can for as long as they can, and, when the time comes, help them have a ‘good death’.

Website: https://sobellhouse.org/

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? Our most recent campaign, OxTrail, did a wonderful job at raising awareness of Sobell House amongst our community, and we want to build on this awareness and increase knowledge of the work we provide. In May 2021, it was estimated that the number of people needing vital end-of-life care in England will rise by 55% by 2030 and, as a result, the demand for hospice care is expected to grow at a similar rate. This means that Sobell House is likely to see an increase in the need for its services across the county, and we want to be able to offer our care to everyone who needs it. We often find that there are many myths that people believe to be true about palliative care, and we want to take every opportunity to bust those myths and communicate clearly to our community the truth about what palliative care is and the benefits it provides. Branding a Bus for a whole year would give us an amazing opportunity to show our community what palliative care really is, dispelling myths and equipping people with knowledge for the future, should they, or their loved ones need it. Whilst palliative care is available for all to use, it may not feel accessible to all, so we are working hard to enable that – in the homeless community, deprived areas and amongst those with dementia. Currently, 1 in 4 people who could benefit from palliative and end-of-life care do not receive appropriate support, therefore the opportunity to bring clearer information around this care, to people across the city from different areas and backgrounds, is one we consider to play a vital role in enabling better accessibility in the future.

Newlife Charity for Disabled Children

Submitted by: Laura Povey

About Newlife Charity for Disabled Children: Newlife is a UK-wide charity dedicated to supporting disabled and terminally ill children by providing essential equipment and support services. Our offerings include equipment grants, emergency equipment loans, play therapy pods, and a nurse helpline. Newlife also funds medical research and campaigns for policy changes to improve the lives of affected children and their families. In Oxfordshire, Newlife collaborates with local healthcare professionals and families to ensure children receive the necessary equipment and support. Families in the area can access Newlife's services by contacting their nurse helpline or applying for equipment grants through their website. Since its inception over 30 years ago, Newlife has become the UK's largest charitable provider of specialist equipment for disabled children, assisting thousands of families nationwide.

Website: https://newlifecharity.co.uk/

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation?  Branding a bus for Newlife would be a powerful tool to amplify the charity’s impact and mission. As a mobile advertisement, the bus would serve as a constant reminder of Newlife’s dedication to supporting disabled and terminally ill children, creating widespread visibility throughout Oxfordshire and beyond. Unlike static billboards, a branded bus travels through towns, villages, and cities, reaching diverse audiences and increasing public awareness of Newlife’s vital work. The bus could feature vibrant, child-friendly designs showcasing the charity’s logo, mission, and success stories of children they’ve helped. Eye-catching visuals paired with impactful messages could evoke emotional connections, encouraging people to engage with the cause and explore how they can contribute. Including website links, QR codes, or donation details would make it easy for passersby to learn more or support Newlife directly. Additionally, the branded bus could act as a mobile fundraising platform. It could be used during charity events, parades, or school visits, promoting specific campaigns like equipment grants or emergency loans. The design could highlight real-life testimonials, reinforcing the tangible impact of donations. This initiative could also attract corporate sponsorships, with businesses eager to associate their brands with a meaningful cause. Such partnerships could help cover the costs of the branding and ongoing bus operations, ensuring a sustainable and impactful strategy. Lastly, the bus would strengthen Newlife’s connection with the community. As it travels, it would remind people of the importance of helping local families, inspiring a sense of collective responsibility. It could even become a symbol of hope for families in need, showing that help is always within reach. In essence, a branded bus would not only raise awareness but also mobilize communities, drive fundraising, and extend Newlife’s reach to help even more children and families.

OXSRAD

Submitted by: Emily Lane

About OXSRAD: OXSRAD is a unique sports centre, based in Marston, Oxford. We exist to create a welcoming space where everyone has access to inclusive fitness and social activities, regardless of ability. Integration between disabled and able-bodied users is at the core of our mission, as we believe in removing social barriers and celebrating people for who they are, not what they can or can’t do. In 2023-24, we supported 549 individuals, including 242 with disabilities or long-term illnesses. Of these, 116 were children, young people, or adults under 25. Each week, we open our doors to offer a variety of activities run by OXSRAD and our partners. Users can access our accessible facilities independently or join classes like Pilates for Parkinson’s, accessible Boccia, dance, or spinning. Our gym features adapted equipment, ensuring everyone can exercise together. “A truly welcoming place, it has helped me feel that a disability isn’t anything to be ashamed of.” “Without OXSRAD, I wouldn’t be able to move my legs, it’s as simple as that.”

Website: https://www.oxsrad.org/

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? It would help us reach people who don’t yet know that OXSRAD is here for them. Every day, individuals travel from across Oxfordshire to access our services, but many are still unaware that we exist. For those facing barriers to fitness and social activities, seeing or hearing our message could be life- changing. It would let them know that there’s a place where they can feel welcome, supported, and able to access the opportunities they need to thrive, no matter their ability. As neighbours to Oxford City FC, we already work closely with them and believe there’s much more we can do together. Being named their official charity partner would give us the opportunity to offer more inclusive football-related activities and collaborate to make a bigger impact on our shared community. We receive no government or local council funding, so this visibility could bring much-needed support, helping us continue to serve those who need us most. The exposure this competition offers would help us connect with more people who may be struggling to find inclusive spaces, letting them know that OXSRAD is open for them and ready to support their journey. Thank you for giving us the chance to reach more people who need OXSRAD.

Emmaus Oxford

Submitted by: Laura Bristow

About Emmaus Oxford: Emmaus Oxford helps people out of homelessness for good. We support adult men and women who are experiencing homelessness in Oxford by providing:

• A Home: We provide each person with their own room and all food and basic needs.
• A Purpose: People living at Emmaus are given the role of companion carrying out meaningful work in our social enterprise, empowering them to contribute to the community.
• Support: Addressing underlying issues like addiction and mental health.
• Health: Promoting physical well-being through sports and fitness.
• A Future: Training, qualifications, and employment support.
• Stability: Tools to prevent future homelessness, including budgeting and tenancy guidance.

Website: https://emmaus.org.uk/oxford/

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? Emmaus Oxford have been helping people out of homelessness for over 15 years but when talking to Oxford residents they often say “Emmaus – I have heard of you but aren’t sure what you do”. 2025 is an important year for Emmaus Oxford. We are expanding our service to provide more accommodation and enhanced support, and we need to engage with the people of Oxfordshire to help us achieve results and ensure that everyone knows what we do. As the Brand the Bus charity for 2025 we could: Increase our visibility and awareness: We want to be seen by the community as the bus makes it way around the county so our name and logo is recognised as the charity that ends homelessness for good. Community Engagement: As passengers make their journey on the bus, we would like to share with them some of the personal journeys of Emmaus companions from homelessness to happiness. Recruitment: We have lots of opportunities for volunteers, particularly in our social enterprise store and with increased awareness and engagement we can recruit more helpers and visitors to our store. Outreach: It is vital that our message is seen not just by potential supporters, but by the people who could benefit from our help. Anyone who is facing homelessness or are in need can come to our outreach evenings for support. New Partnerships: Emmaus Oxford would value the opportunity to work with Get Radio and Oxford City Football Club, using the power of the radio to share our mission and stories, and maybe set up a football match with our Emmaus football team who train every week as part of our Healthy Hearts project.

ARCh (Assisted Reading for Children in Oxfordshire ...

ARCh Assisted Reading for Children

Submitted by: Emma Orton

About ARCh: ARCh Assisted Reading for Children is an Oxfordshire-based charity dedicated to enhancing children's literacy and well-being by fostering a love of reading. Our vision is to inspire a love of reading in children from all of Oxfordshire’s communities, which will enhance their wellbeing and improve their life chances. Through trained volunteers, ARCh provides personalised 1:1 reading sessions to primary school pupils who need support. Children are given a safe space to read books, play games and have the undivided attention of a supportive adult. Schools collaborating with ARCh report significant improvements in students' reading abilities, comprehension, self-esteem, communication skills, and overall attitude toward learning.

Website: https://archoxfordshire.org.uk/

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? Winning the Brand the Bus competition would provide ARCh Assisted Reading for Children with an incredible opportunity to amplify our visibility and reach across Oxfordshire. A branded bus showcasing ARCh's mission and message would serve as a moving advertisement with a reach that we as a small charity could only dream of! This increased awareness would help highlight the urgent need to support children struggling with literacy, a challenge affecting thousands in the region, and hopefully help us appeal to a diverse range of potential volunteers. The branding would provide a platform to inspire potential volunteers by showcasing the transformative impact they can have on young readers. Seeing ARCh's branding on a bus would spark curiosity and encourage individuals to learn more about our volunteering opportunities. Many people may have the desire to give back but lack awareness of how to get involved or are unaware of ARCh; this campaign would bridge that gap. The visibility would also strengthen ARCh's partnerships with schools, businesses, and local organisations, positioning it as a vital community asset. Increased volunteer recruitment would mean ARCh can reach more children, offering life-changing literacy support and helping to close the educational gap. Ultimately, the exposure from this campaign would enable ARCh to recruit more dedicated volunteers, secure additional funding, and expand its reach, ensuring that every child has the chance to thrive through the joy of reading.

Home Page - Benson Millstream

Benson Millstream Centre

Submitted by: Lindsay Jenkins

About Benson Millstream Centre: Social isolation, as well as food and energy poverty are significant problems. For 3 days of the week, our small charity provides a hot 2 course meal in our centre for the elderly and vulnerable residents of Benson and surrounding villages in South Oxfordshire. We rely on volunteers to run our centre, to transport our friends to and from our sessions and to deliver meals to those whose mobility prevents them from attending. Unlike other provisions for the elderly, we aim to move beyond the ‘tea and bingo’ stereotype and challenge our older friends to age disgracefully…axe throwing, duck races, impromptu discos are all par for the course at Benson Millstream. Basically, we aim to provide a youth club for the elderly, vulnerable and marginalised.

Website: https://bensonmillstreamcentre.org/

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? Our population is ageing…and the number of times you’ve been around the sun often pigeonholes what you (and society) deem you to be. We want to reinvent the image of older people. The friends who come to our centre may be older, but we strive to confirm their image of themselves as still vibrant, productive and adventurous members of our community.

Survivor Space Oxfordshire

Survivor Space Oxfordshire

Submitted by: Lauren Kendall

About Survivor Space Oxfordshire: Survivor Space is a vital charity dedicated to supporting survivors of sexual violence in Oxfordshire. We provide trauma-informed counselling, advocacy to navigate complex legal systems, and peer support groups that encourage community and understanding among survivors. We work with all genders and are continuing to expand our life-saving services to reach younger survivors, ensuring that help is accessible to all that need it. As the only specialist support available for survivors of sexual violence in Oxfordshire, we take our responsibility seriously. We believe that with the right resources and support, survivors can reclaim their lives and move forward with renewed hope and strength. The impact of our services is profound and far-reaching. We have seen firsthand how our support can make a significant difference in a survivor's journey, enabling them to heal and rebuild their lives. All our life-saving services are free to those that need them.

Website: https://www.survivorspace.org.uk/

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? Branding a bus is particularly vital for us as we continue to build on the momentum of our recent rebranding efforts. Last year, after six months of thorough consultation with service users, stakeholders, and funders, we transitioned from our previous name, Oxfordshire Sexual Abuse and Rape Crisis Centre to Survivor Space Oxfordshire. This change was not just about a new name; it represents our deep commitment to positive empowerment and inclusivity for all survivors of sexual violence. As the only charity providing specialised support in Oxfordshire, it is crucial that our community knows who we are and how to access our services. A branded bus would serve as a powerful mobile platform to amplify our new identity, making it visible in public spaces throughout the region. By showcasing our commitment to support and healing, we can engage individuals who may not yet be aware of the resources available to them. The bus would act as more than just a vehicle; it would be a beacon of hope and a reminder to survivors that help is within reach. Its presence would encourage conversations about sexual violence, dismantling the stigma that often surrounds the topic and empowering individuals to seek assistance. Furthermore, our branding on the bus would reflect our dedication to inclusivity, ensuring that everyone in the community feels represented and welcomed. This initiative would also provide an opportunity to collaborate with local businesses and organisations, fostering a network of support that extends our reach. In summary, branding a bus is an essential step for us as we solidify our new identity. It will enhance our visibility, promote community engagement, and ultimately help us fulfil our mission of empowering survivors and fostering healing across Oxfordshire.

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? Raising awareness and funds for people with downs syndrome is invaluable. There are huge shortfalls in the provisions available and huge gaps between the public perception of what living with downs syndrome is like and the reality of that. Families can face many hurdles, and the support of this charity is so important but there are also so many wonderful achievements to celebrate along the way too.

Parents And Children Together (PACT)

Submitted by: Becs Lees

About Parents And Children Together (PACT): Parents And Children Together (PACT) is an adoption and trauma support charity which has been building and strengthening families since 1911. PACT provides outstanding adoption services across southern and central England. We create families by finding, assessing and approving people who want to become parents through adoption and matches them with children looking for their permanent, loving home. PACT provides specialist adoption support to all our families for life. This includes activity sessions, family fun days, support groups and therapeutic services. Last year, PACT placed 78 children with 54 loving, permanent families. PACT helps children and parents heal from the trauma of domestic abuse through our Bounce Back 4 Kids programme (BB4K). Last year, 133 children were directly supported by BB4K. BB4K predominantly uses group sessions to support children, aged 3-11, and their non-perpetrating parents or carers who have experienced domestic abuse.

Website: https://www.pactcharity.org/

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? PACT’s journey began in Oxford in 1911. Miss Sharpe was appointed as PACT’s first rescue worker by the Diocese Council. She could be seen riding her bike around Oxford to support mothers to build better lives for their children. PACT now helps hundreds of families every year. Our focus on providing specialist services that are not available locally remains constant and children are at the centre of what we do. By becoming this year’s Brand the Bus charity, PACT would be able to: Find and support more permanent, loving families in Oxfordshire for children waiting. There are currently 2,580 children in England waiting to be adopted - a 22% increase from the previous year*Coram ASG Data. A PACT bus would increase PACT’s visibility and enable us to reach more people in Oxfordshire, of different backgrounds and experiences, who are considering growing their family through adoption. Support more children across Oxfordshire who have experienced domestic abuse. Shocking figures reveal that more children could suffer domestic abuse than start primary school in England and Wales this year**Foundations. For those affected by the trauma of domestic abuse, seeing our message could be life changing. Increase community engagement. Through powerful family imagery and short testimonials, we would aim to evoke emotional connection and curiosity. This could encourage people to get involved with PACT through volunteering or donating. The skills, experience, and generosity our volunteers bring are invaluable. Encourage partnerships with local businesses. PACT values the vital contributions that local businesses bring to our work and aspires to create more meaningful and mutually beneficial partnerships with Oxfordshire-based businesses. Overall, a branded bus would enable PACT to raise awareness of our life-changing work, increase community involvement and amplify PACT’s reach to support even more children and families affected by trauma.

SAFE! Support for Young People Affected by Crime

Submitted by: Caitlin Cooper

About SAFE! Support for Young People Affected by Crime: SAFE! has been supporting children affected by crime in the Thames Valley for 17 years, last year we supported over 1570 children and their families. We recognise that experiencing a crime can be especially devastating for children and young people, who can struggle to cope and move on without appropriate support. Our practitioners offer a range of pragmatic strategies based upon protective behaviours' and restorative approaches that are designed to increase confidence, build resilience and improve future safety through one-to-one and groupwork. By listening attentively and putting their needs at the heart of the process, SAFE! empowers young people, giving them a voice and helping them and those around them to build protective communities where they can feel safe. With the rise in sexual abuse, domestic violence and internet crime, the world can be a scary place, and SAFE!’s unique, innovative and compassionate service seeks to help young people live happy and fulfilling lives.

Website: https://safeproject.org.uk/

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? The benefits of branding a bus for us would be manifold, from driving fundraising to promoting our mission and values. We’re proud to offer a free and vital service to children in need of support, but we need donations to do this. The bus travelling across Oxfordshire, decorated with our striking and friendly branding, would inform the public of our commitment to serving some of the most vulnerable members of our community. We’ve also recently launched a campaign calling for the ‘Prioritisation of Cases Involving Child Victims of Sexual Harm’ following our revelatory report into delays in the criminal justice system. The additional visibility from the bus would give us the invaluable opportunity to effect change nationwide from our base in Oxford. Voting for us would be an investment in the future. Supporting young victims at this crucial point informs their lives moving forward, making for happy, healthy adults who can participate in society.

Crossroads Care

Submitted by: Lizzy Clarkson

About Crossroads Care: 1 in 3 of us will become unpaid carers in our lifetime. Caring for an elderly frail mum, caring for a husband who develops dementia, caring for a sick child. We do this readily for people we love, but it can take a toll and can be hard work. At Crossroads we provide care workers to take on some of the caring responsibilities so unpaid carers can take a break. Some 24/7 carers just need the time to get to the shops or GP. Others can take "me- time" to meet friends, do the gardening or spend time with other children. We also arrange outings and get togethers to give support to family carers and raise awareness of the ups and downs of being an unpaid carer.

Website: https://www.crossroads-care.org

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? We don't have spare funds to advertise our service like this. We funnel everything into free care and support for unpaid carers. It would be great to reach more people in need. Many unpaid carers don't know they are and just struggle on. Having a branded bus would mean we could make more people aware of the help that is out there. We would be very grateful for your vote. Thank you.

The Gatehouse Logo

The Gatehouse

Submitted by: David Kay

About The Gatehouse: The Gatehouse runs a drop-in community centre for Oxford’s adult homeless and vulnerably-housed community, providing a wide range of free support services since 1991. Recently we’ve widened support to include anyone on low wages or suffering from food/fuel poverty. We operate an open-door policy, so unlike most support agencies, we don’t require our guests to be registered as homeless or have a local connection. When people are in need, we welcome them in, and provide a safety net for all.

Services at drop-in sessions include a café, clothes store, showers, a Women’s Space, IT access, wellbeing/practical workshops, and group activities. We also offer individual support and advice through our Casework Team and Counselling service. Through these services we provide essential practical support to help individuals survive, plus they gain new skills and self-confidence, which helps them re-integrate into the local community through a transition back into permanent housing and employment.

Website: https://www.oxfordgatehouse.org/

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? Imagine that you’ve suddenly found yourself homeless, and having to sleep rough on the streets of Oxford. You’re cold, hungry, and you don’t know where to go, or who to ask for help. Huddling in your sleeping bag you look up as a bus glides by, and there you see something that triggers a sense of hope. An advert for the Gatehouse promising ‘Sanctuary now, support for the future’. No catch, just turn up and you find food and drink, a welcoming and safe place, and friendly people happy to listen, and to provide advice and further support.

Oxford has one of the highest levels of rough sleepers in the country, and with economic downturns over recent years it isn’t getting any better. Our guests are amongst the most disadvantaged members of society, with a wide range of backgrounds including refugees, ex-military, ex-prisoners, and people with mental or physical health issues, disabilities, or simply trying to recover from loss of a job or the break-up of a relationship. All of these people need our help, and branding a bus would massively increase our visibility, ensuring that more individuals find their way to our door.

Also, running all of those services is expensive (over £500,000 this year), and we only receive a very small amount of funding from Government. Over 95% of our funds come from other sources, and donations from local individuals, business and community organisations such as faith groups, schools and colleges form a significant part. We want to spend our funds on our services, and can’t afford major advertising campaigns, so this chance to partner with Oxford Bus Company, Get Radio, and Oxford City Football Club is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to highlight our good works to thousands of people, and through that to attract significant levels of funding.

Order of Malta medals for ten Orders of St John Care Trust employees - National Care Forum

The Orders of St John Care Trust

Submitted by: Helen Dearing

About The Orders of St John Care Trust: The Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT) is a not-for-profit charitable trust dedicated to providing exceptional, person-centered care for older adults. With over 60 care homes and extra care housing schemes across England, we offer a wide range of services, including residential, nursing, dementia, respite, and day care, tailored to meet the diverse needs of our residents.

In Oxfordshire, we proudly operate 17 care homes and 6 extra care housing schemes, providing compassionate, high-quality care that nurtures physical, emotional, and social well-being. Our mission is to enrich the lives of those we care for, supporting their independence and dignity for as long as possible. Deeply rooted in the Oxfordshire community, we work tirelessly to ensure that our services are accessible to all who need them, fostering a safe and supportive environment where residents and their families can thrive.

Website: www.osjct.co.uk

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? When it comes to choosing care for a loved one, the decision is often made in a moment of crisis. For some, it can also be a time fraught with confusion, doubt, and guilt, as families navigate complex options and overwhelming emotions. Adding to this struggle is the weight of stereotypes that paint ageing and old age in a negative light.

At the same time, the need for quality care is growing. More and more people find themselves in need of support as they age, yet many are unaware of the support, resources and expertise available to help them make informed and compassionate choices.

This is where our branded bus campaign makes a difference. By reaching a wider audience, we can connect with those who would benefit from our knowledge and care. We aim to not only guide families through difficult decisions but also challenge the misconceptions about ageing.

Through this campaign, we want to shine a light on the vibrant possibilities of later life. Older adults can still lead lives filled with meaning, laughter, friendship, and love. With the right support, they can maintain a high quality of life that celebrates their individuality and enriches their days. This is our mission—to inspire hope and show that ageing is not an end but a continuation of a life full of potential.

Mabel Prichard School

Submitted by: Alison Martin

About The Orders of Mabel Prichard School: Mabel Prichard is a special needs school. We are a cross phase school catering for learners from 2-19 years. Our vision is to motivate and prepare our learners to succeed in their adulthood, whatever this may look like. We have a strong focus on communication in all its forms, all our learners are supported to read in their own unique ways. Life skills and engagement with the wider community are a really important part of curriculum. We are so proud of how our learners contribute to our local community through visits and work experience.

Website: https://www.mabelprichard.org/

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? Mabel Prichard School think it is vitally important that our learners and the SEND community should not only be visible but celebrated for the wonderful children and young people they are.
We are a high needs school and as such require significant learner to adult ratios, as a result of our expanding provisions we are currently in a significant recruitment drive. Having this level of positive recognition we believe would greatly support our efforts with this.
We have two significant fund raising goals at the moment; our secondary site needs a library and our most complex learners would greatly benefit from the use of an Eyegaze in school to support their communication.
As well as the pride our learners would feel we believe that this level of visibility would support us in networking with the local community. We work hard to partner with local groups and businesses to develop our careers curriculum which greatly benefits all our learners.
Finally, we have Oxford's (or possibly the words') biggest Bus fan and expert in one of our classes and he believe that this would make his life complete. He is not alone, we have quite a few bus fans that make up our cohort.

The Mulberry Bush. Transforming troubled lives together.

The Mulberry Bush. Transforming troubled lives together.

The Mulberry Bush Organisation

Submitted by: Hilary Lloyd

About The Mulberry Bush Organisation: The Mulberry Bush is the Oxfordshire based charity that exists to support those troubled and traumatised as children locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. We help them feel listened-to and understood. We enable them to make positive change to live their best lives.
For over 75 years we have been providing specialist therapeutic support and education in our residential primary school in Standlake near Witney. Rapid growth has come from taking our expertise out into educational, care, health and justice settings, providing practical support and training to influence those who are able to make a difference. By empowering others we reach many more people.
Our ultimate aim is to enable everyone we support – whether directly or indirectly - to make positive change and live their best life. Whilst each journey is unique, what matters most is that every person has the opportunity to live their own version of a ‘best life’.

Website: https://mulberrybush.org.uk

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? Branding a bus would increase awareness of the vital services and impact of The Mulberry Bush. Despite being over 75 years old and providing essential services to 10,000’s of people, The Mulberry Bush is not well known outside of our sector.
There can be a stigma around those who’ve suffered trauma, abuse and neglect and this is wrong. Sadly, it is more common than people would like to think it. The opportunity to show that, through our work, there can be a light at the end of the tunnel, would be invaluable.
Bringing people’s attention to the impact of vital work in the community would increase awareness of what is available as a resource. Since September 2024 the Outreach team have worked with 33 Oxfordshire schools and 2 organisations. The national/international figures are 54 schools and 9 organisations. This includes work in educational, care, health and justice settings.
Then there are the fundraising possibilities. As a charity, The Mulberry Bush raises funds to enable everyone who needs our help to access our services and expertise. We rely on donations to not only provide an enhanced environment, education and experiences for the children within our care but also to increase our impact and reach to those in need, but who can’t afford our services and to invest in enabling activities to help us deliver new products and services.
An increased awareness of The Mulberry Bush through a branded bus would enhance our ability to provide a range of specialist services aimed at breaking the cycle for these, children, young people, and their communities. We are ambitious to make future generations of children and young people feel listened to, understood and able to make positive changes that enable them to lead their best lives.

Nai's House

Submitted by: Gem Barrett

About Nai's House: Nai's House CIO, an award-winning charity in Bicester, Oxfordshire, was founded in memory of Dené (Nai), who died by suicide at age 22. The organisation focuses on improving mental health and preventing suicide among young people aged 5-30. We provide confidential, non-clinical support through counselling, workshops, and wellbeing services, while also supporting parents and carers of young people affected by suicide and individuals in crisis. Since 2019, Nai's House has transformed over 400 lives through its mental health and suicide prevention services. Demand has increased 200% in the past two years, reflecting growing mental health challenges among young people. As Oxfordshire's only youth suicide prevention service, we offer a holistic approach that empowers individuals to address mental health issues on their own terms. All services are free, unlimited, and available for as long as needed.

Website: https://www.naishouse.org.uk/

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? Branding a bus offers a unique and powerful opportunity for our organisation to raise awareness of our support, in particular about suicide prevention and tackle the surrounding stigma. Part of our mission is to equip individuals with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to engage in conversations about suicide ideation and actions. Too often, the fear of speaking openly about suicide prevents people from seeking help or supporting others who are struggling. By branding a bus, we can normalise these vital conversations, making it clear that talking about suicide can save lives. With suicide rates on the rise, and the leading cause of death for under 35s, this issue has never been more urgent. We cannot afford to ignore its impact on our communities. The bus branding would act as a moving, visible reminder that suicide prevention affects everyone, everywhere. It would ensure that those feeling isolated or overwhelmed by suicidal thoughts know they're not alone and that help is available. The bus would be a powerful tool to amplify our message as it travels throughout the community. It would carry a clear call to action: people can reach out for support, there is hope, and talking about suicide is the first step in saving lives. The visibility of a branded bus would also reduce the stigma surrounding mental health challenges, helping to foster an environment where individuals feel safe to seek help when needed. Additionally, the bus branding would demonstrate our commitment to tackling mental health issues head-on, reaching a wide audience in an innovative and impactful way. By seizing this opportunity, we can make an immediate and lasting difference in the fight against suicide.

Samaritans | Waiting Room

Banbury & District Samaritans

Submitted by: Susan Hughes

About Banbury & District Samaritans: Samaritan's aim is to reduce the number of people dying by suicide. Samaritans volunteers are available 24/7 every day of the year and are unique in not giving advice or passing judgment - we simply listen. We have a freephone number which is available even if the caller has no credit on their phone. Callers can also email and online chat is available at certain times.

Website: https://www.samaritans.org/branches/banbury/

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? It would help with raising the profile of Samaritans and publicise the free phone number. The branch would also benefit from a donation as although we are part of Samaritans main charity, branches are required to raise their own running costs each year. Although a small branch of around 85 volunteers, we cover a wide area including Banbury, Brackley and Bicester. Every role in the branch is carried out by a volunteer and we have no paid staff. We hold external events to raise awareness of what Samaritans does giving talks to groups and workplaces, schools and colleges, plus attending local shows and events throughout the year.

Style Acre

Submitted by: Lisa Hanton

About Style Acre: Established in 1995, Style Acre supports 275 people with learning disabilities and autism in Oxfordshire. Our person-centred support ranges from 24-hour care for those with complex learning, health and or physical disabilities to a few hours support per week for those who live more independently.

Our mission is to provide, supportive, creative and dynamic environments where people are valued as equals, can fulfil their potential, and live the life they choose.

People we support are given the freedom and independence to live with peers through 36 supported living households. We also run three community hubs in Oxfordshire where people come and learn life skills, make friends, have fun and develop their independence and confidence.

Style Acre is so much more than a charity providing supported living and day opportunities. We are a community of thriving, engaged and connected people who strive to reach for the stars and fulfil their potential.

Website: https://styleacre.org.uk

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? Style Acre celebrates its 30th anniversary this year and winning Brand the Bus would be an incredible way to celebrate this milestone. It would not only enhance our visibility across Oxfordshire but also serve as a powerful platform to raise awareness about the person-centred support we provide to adults with learning disabilities and autism in Oxfordshire.

Branding a bus presents a unique opportunity to spread the reach and impact of our organisation. The bus would become a showcase of the positive change we bring to the lives of the people we support, offering a glimpse into the valuable support we provide and reaching those who may not yet be familiar with Style Acre. This increased visibility is crucial, it allows us to connect with new individuals and families who, upon learning about us, may find the exact support they need to thrive. One of the most exciting aspects of this opportunity is the potential for the people we support to be actively involved in the branding process.

Working collaboratively with the branding company to shape the design, ensuring their voices and perspectives are at the heart of the project. Being involved would fill them with an immense sense of pride, knowing they are playing a vital role in sharing Style Acre’s mission and the opportunities available to them with the wider Oxfordshire community.

The bus would show people what work we do and the opportunities we create for individuals with learning disabilities and autism. It would allow us to connect with potential employees, volunteers and supporters, encouraging people to engage with us, and learn more about our services.

Style Acre takes pride in the fact we are ‘big enough to cope but small enough to care’.

The Porch Oxford - providing a stepping stone to those who are homeless or vulnerably housed

The Porch

Submitted by: Roger Lewins

About The Porch: The Porch is the frontline for homeless day services in Oxford. We are the only service in Oxford that delivers direct access to day-long provision for people sleeping out on our streets - providing a place of sanctuary where lives are re-built and dignity is restored.

We are a life-changing charity dedicated to supporting vulnerable adults facing homelessness and poverty. The Porch is a safe space where people receive vital help such as nutritious meals, showers, laundry facilities and tailored support services. We provide about 70-80 freshly cooked lunches per day but our holistic approach addresses both immediate needs and long-term goals, offering help on housing, finance, physical and mental health, addiction recovery and skills for employment.

The Porch nurtures a strong sense of community and belonging where everyone is seen, valued, and given the chance to thrive. Together, this helps people rebuild confidence, gain independence and restore hope.

Website: www.theporch.org.uk

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? We are welcoming more and more homeless and vulnerable people to The Porch each week. Many of our ingredients and other inputs are sourced for free and we are proud of how efficiently we run the centre. But constantly rising demand and inflation requires us to seek new sources of funding to add to our loyal support base. Each year, we have to raise every single penny of our running costs and delivering this range of services is not cheap! We are grateful to receive support from Oxford City Council but we have to raise more than 85% of our costs each year - this is a huge challenge to us, as well as to all those members of the public and other supporters that help us by donating!

The Brand the Bus opportunity would help us spread the word so that we can follow up new opportunities and secure our work here into the future. We want the general public in Oxford and further afield to know more about what we do – not just for the potential funding it can help us with in the short-term but because we want our service to be used and supported in every way by the community. Ultimately, we need more security so that we can be confident that we can continue to deliver the quality and quality of services we are known for.

Our members, our partners and our local community appreciate us, but we want even more to know about the scope of what we do and more about the issue of homelessness in Oxford. We would use Brand the Bus to highlight these issues, promote the work we do with our partners and outline ways in which we can all help by donating and vounteering.

Website: https://thegallerytrust.co.uk/

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? Winning the 'Brand the Bus' competition would provide an extraordinary platform to amplify our message of inclusion throughout Oxfordshire, creating profound and lasting impacts for our students and their families. It would elevate the self-esteem and confidence of our students, as they see their community recognise and celebrate their contributions. Moreover, it would foster greater public understanding and support for SEND education while inspiring other organisations to champion the cause of inclusion and opportunity. This initiative would also be a powerful testament to our passion for fostering innovation in education, where creativity drives learning and meaningful relationships underpin engagement and achievement. By raising awareness of the Trust's exceptional expertise and dedication, we aim to inspire and influence positive change on a broader scale.

Against Breast Cancer | Breast Cancer Research Charity

Against Breast Cancer

Submitted by: Claire Rogers

About Against Breast Cancer: Against Breast Cancer funds ground-breaking research into the prevention, earlier detection, and better treatments of secondary breast cancer, which claims the lives of over 11,000 people every year in the UK. We fund breast cancer research at leading UK academic institutions including the University of Oxford where we fund a 9-year Oriel College Fellowship Programme and at The University of Southampton we fund 10-year projects to discover new early detection methods and novel treatments – both are making huge strides in the battle against breast cancer. This progress would not be possible without the help of our wonderful supporters and volunteers who raise money for Against Breast Cancer at community events such as A Splash of Pink, Breast Walks Ever (Oxfordshire & Hampshire) and the London Marathon. We also raise money through recycling, including the collection of unwanted bras collected through our network of over 900 ‘bra banks’.

Website: https://www.againstbreastcancer.org.uk/

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? Branding a bus for Against Breast Cancer would be an effective way to spread awareness of the charity’s mission and to inform more people about the challenge of breast cancer. The lifetime risk of being diagnosed with breast cancer in women in the UK is 1 in 7 and the number living with a diagnosis is predicted to double by 2030. To reduce the loss of life from breast cancer, it is vital it is detected as early as possible. To continue progress with our research into novel detection and treatment of breast cancer, we need to expand our supporter base, engaging more of the local community to get involved in fund-raising events. Against Breast Cancer also provides educational information through leaflets and our website. This includes how to self-check for early signs of breast cancer, encourage more eligible women (aged 50-70) to attend NHS breast screening and provide links to breast cancer support groups, including one for male breast cancer. Greater breast awareness will help breast cancer be detected at an early stage, when the outlook is much better. By including website links and QR codes we can increase engagement and let people know how they can get involved, whether through one of our events like Splash of Pink or Breast Walk Ever, donations to our recycling campaigns (‘bra banks’, ink cartridges and stamps) or to learn more about breast cancer and our research. We could also gain more corporate or sports club sponsorship; an area which has reduced since the pandemic. Branding a Bus for a year would be an excellent way for us to grow the Against Breast Cancer community, spread awareness and raise further funds and help achieve our mission of a world without loss of life by secondary breast cancer.

Helen & Douglas House

Helen & Douglas House

Submitted by: Janet Carruzzo

About Helen & Douglas House: Helen & Douglas House is a local charity who cares for terminally ill children and their families at its hospice in Oxford and in their own home across in Oxfordshire. Since we opened in 1982, as the world’s first children's hospice, Helen & Douglas House has helped local families cope with the challenges of looking after a terminally ill child who will die prematurely. We are on hand 24 hours a day 365 days a year to help these families through difficult times. Our hospice is often filled with laughter as well as sometimes tears but more than anything it is a peaceful place where families can come and create happy memories and receive specialist care in their last days or years together. We were recently awarded the Investors in Diversity Award silver accreditation. We celebrate diversity and aim for an equitable, diverse and inclusive culture for our staff, volunteers and the families we care for.

Website: https://www.helenanddouglas.org.uk/

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? Winning ‘Brand the Bus’ would mean the world to us. It would help us raise our awareness and the visibility of our charity in Oxfordshire to raise the vital funds needed to the growing number of local families who need our help. No one should have to face the loss of a child without the help and support from a charity like ours. The branded bus and brilliant Get Radio package will not only help raise the £6m needed to run the hospice service but also raise awareness of our charity amongst families who may need our help. As a local charity, we need to get the message out to encourage more people to donate money and fundraise for us. Without this we cannot offer local families facing the devastating loss of a child the vital care they need. We don't have big budgets for advertising on buses or radio so this would be such a wonderful gift which would otherwise be unobtainable. Many of the fundraising events we hold or take part in are in the Oxford area including our Bubble Rush, Fire Walk, Abseil and Oxford Half Marathon, so winning 'Brand a Bus' would enable us to get more people to sign up to these events to raise more money to help more local families.

Lipodystrophy UK

Submitted by: Rebecca Sanders

About Lipodystrophy UK: Lipodystrophy UK is the UK’s only charity dedicated to supporting people affected by Lipodystrophy - a rare life threatening disease which affects approximately 1 in 1 million people across the world. Our mission is to raise awareness of lipodystrophy, support those who may be affected by lipodystrophy and advocate for excellent clinical care and scientific research into these conditions.

Website: https://lipodystrophyuk.org/

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? As a rare disease, bus branding would significantly increase our visibility in Oxfordshire and help raise awareness. This supports the community by signposting patients (potentially undiagnosed and diagnosed) towards a supportive patient community, by raising awareness and acceptance of this rare disease within the wider community, as well as raising awareness with researchers and clinicians within Oxfordshire. There is a Lipodystrophy clinic at OCDEM at the Churchill Hospital, but outside this clinic, Lipodystrophy is not well known. Increased awareness helps support patients by normalising differences in society and encourages funding into Research and support initiatives. Increased awareness will hugely benefit our fundraising activities, which in turn allow us to implement further support initiatives for those affected by Lipodystrophy (patients, their families and caregivers).

Oxford Mutual Aid

Oxford Mutual Aid

Submitted by: Alfie Davis

About Oxford Mutual Aid: We deliver regular and emergency food parcels to vulnerable members of the community facing food insecurity. In addition to food, we also provide household items, toiletries and baby items. Operationally, we support 170 households weekly and provide an additional 250 emergency food packages a month, with over 25,000 packages delivered since 2020. Anyone can self-refer via our website, email, or phone line - we don’t means test applications, and deliver direct to recipients , meaning we are often a key source of support for those who have fallen between the cracks of other support systems - particularly the homeless, asylum seekers, the mentally ill and the disabled. With a strong community ethos, we believe in supporting physical and emotional health, offering nutritious and inviting food parcels that match the preferences, health requirements and ethical/religious needs of each individual, and hold regular community gatherings to build community between recipients and volunteers.

Website: https://oxfordmutualaid.org/

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? Branding a bus would enable us to greatly expand our community outreach and awareness, helping us establish OMA as a consistent and well-known organisation within Oxford. Oxford buses are an iconic site across the city, and to have our organisation and its work recognised in this way would represent a large-scale act of solidarity that recognises the vital community building and support we so value. We aim to transform this city, building a network of support that helps to transform Oxford and support its most vulnerable, ensuring nobody ever has to go hungry - and to be voted to receive this bus branding would be a city-wide affirmation of our mission. Moreover, the branding and advertising we would receive from this bus branding would be significant in many regards, boosting: - The amount of people we support - raising awareness that we are her to help for those who need it, helping make sure those in need of food support in Oxford but don't know where to go have a firm idea of where to ask for help - The amount of volunteers active in our community - The advertising from this bus will help drive up the number of volunteers we organically receive, increasing the depth and breadth of the provision we'll be able to offer parcel recipients - The funding we receive - seeing this bus may encourage and create other funding opportunities for us, be these through individuals arranging community fundraising or meaning we receive organic grant/corporate donations, again enabling us to support even more people.

One-Eighty

One-Eighty

Submitted by: Kelly Jennings- Robinson

About One-Eighty: One-Eighty is an award-winning, Oxford-based charity helping children and young people (aged 4-18) improve their mental health and engage with their education. 1 in 5 young people are now estimated to have a mental health issue, with waiting lists of up to four years to access support. Our work has never been more critical. We offer tailored 1:1 interventions, providing focused 8–10 week sessions for children who are missing school due to mental health challenges, neurodiversity or SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities). Our preventative group programmes for primary and secondary schools help address mental health issues before they escalate. Additionally, we provide training and supervision for education professionals to better support students facing these challenges. One-Eighty is turning lives around by giving young people the support they need to thrive.

Website: https://one-eighty.org.uk/

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? Winning the Brand the Bus competition would be a powerful way to raise awareness about the support available for young people in Oxfordshire who are struggling with mental health, education, and additional challenges such as neurodiversity and SEND. Around 20,000 children in the county are missing or persistently absent from education because they lack the support they need. A bus campaign would create a highly visible platform to spark conversations, break down stigma, and remind the public that help is available. For schools, parents, and teachers, it would be a clear message that support exists for children facing these barriers to education. Many families are unaware of our services, and a bus campaign would make it easier for them to recognise and access the help they need. This opportunity would allow us to reach a wider audience, highlight the importance of early intervention, and build a more informed community that understands the critical link between mental health and education. This campaign will help us raise awareness of the children and young people who slip through the net for support and miss their education. We are advocating for their voices to be heard in Oxfordshire. Thank you for voting for us.

Museum of Oxford Development Trust

Submitted by: Issy Benavides

About Museum of Oxford Development Trust: The Museum of Oxford has been sharing the story of Oxford and its people since 1975. Through our collections, we try to foster a feeling of shared community heritage for Oxford’s people. Our activities and events help people to develop new skills and learn something new, as well as socialise and play. We collaborate with under-represented groups in the city to explore and share their heritage. The Museum offers an older people’s programme, workshops for local schools, family activities, volunteering, guided tours, and local history talks and walks. We aim to tackle the city's greatest challenges by engaging with its most deprived neighbourhoods, where people may be experiencing difficulties like low income and poverty, social isolation, and low community integration.

Website: https://museumofoxford.org/support-us/donate/

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? 2025 marks the Museum of Oxford’s 50th year of sharing the history of Oxford’s people. Brand the Bus will give us the opportunity to raise the profile of our work and collections in this milestone year, as well as to advertise our programme for Oxford residents, whether families, older people, adults, or community groups. We’re keen to spread the word about the Museum of Oxford and our 50th birthday celebrations. The opportunity will allow us to showcase the public’s best-loved objects in our collections, including the explorer Robert Falcon Scott’s Marmalade tin, containing marmalade made by Sarah Jane Cooper using a secret family recipe, or objects belonging to the ‘real’ Alice, the inspiration for Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. Through greater visibility via a bus campaign, we’ll inspire people to engage with their city museum, welcoming them into our spaces to offer them accessible, fun experiences. We’d love to reach as many people as possible in our 50th birthday year.

Thames Valley Air Ambulance

Submitted by: Julia Horne

About Thames Valley Ambulance: If you were to suffer a critical injury or life threatening medical emergency, you would want to know help was nearby. That’s why Thames Valley Air Ambulance exists. We’re here for you and your loved ones. Whoever you are. Wherever and whenever you need us. In Oxfordshire, Berkshire, and Buckinghamshire. Last year we were called out 3,129 times, with 860 of these to people in urgent need of critical care in Oxfordshire. Behind this number are real people, going through what is probably the most traumatic event of their lives. As a charity, every single call out we attend is funded by you. It is only thanks to the generous donations of our community that we can be there for patients wherever and whenever they need our help.

Website: https://www.tvairambulance.org.uk/

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? Last year, the most frequent type of call out Thames Valley Air Ambulance received was to cardiac arrests, with 1,207 over the year - an average of three a day. Yet, only one in three people in Oxfordshire would feel confident giving CPR if they witnessed a cardiac arrest, despite 58 per cent receiving some form of CPR training in the past. Fewer than one in ten people survive a cardiac arrest outside of hospital, but the chance of surviving doubles with early CPR and defibrillation. Our doctors and paramedics bring the best expertise and kit to the scene, but if a bystander has already begun CPR before we arrive then it gives us the greatest possible chance of saving that patient. We are working to fill this CPR confidence gap in the community, as it could be key to saving more lives. We’d like to brand the bus and remind our amazing community of the lifesaving difference each one of us could make, if we just have the confidence to help in that moment. A unique ‘CPR’ bus, that turns every journey into a potential lifesaving story for a family in Oxfordshire. This isn’t branding a bus for Thames Valley Air Ambulance, this is branding a brand a bus for you and your loved ones.

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? As a small and relatively unknown charity in Oxfordshire, branding a bus would hugely increase our reach and visibility. This is especially important as an arts organisation, as so many people are unaware of our charity status, and that our concerts cover less than one third of our total running costs. As well as increasing concert sales, which are critical to funding our community work, branding a bus would help us to make more people aware of our Learning and Participation programme, giving us the opportunity to increase funding for this work, as well as engaging more musicians to support the work, and volunteers for activities such as stewarding concerts. In short, branding a bus could have a transformative impact on our brand awareness and in turn the good we have the capacity to do in Oxfordshire.

Homeless Oxfordshire

Submitted by: Amie Knights

About Homeless Oxfordshire: Homeless Oxfordshire is the county’s largest not-for-profit provider of supported accommodation for people experiencing homelessness; providing an open door and offering safety, stability and support when it is needed most. Homeless Oxfordshire’s specialist support helps rebuild the lives of people whose complex needs are often the result of life-long disadvantage and challenges such as poverty, childhood trauma, substance and alcohol use, institutional care, and deep social exclusion.

Website: https://homelessoxfordshire.uk/

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? According to recent figures from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, in 2023 there was a 70% increase in the numbers of people sleeping rough in Oxford on any given night compared to 2022. In response to this continued rise, we’ve got big plans to invest further in our accommodation and specialist support provisions across Oxfordshire, so that we can help more people rebuild their lives after homelessness. With support from Brand the Bus, we hope to increase awareness of this crisis, dispel some of the myths and stereotypes surrounding homelessness and raise the funds to help us continue our vital work in the community.

Freddie's Future

Submitted by: Nicole Croft

About Freddie's Future: We set up Freddies future after our amazing son was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma in 2019. We fight for children with bone cancer like Freddie as treatments are so outdated and aggressive and we wanted to help to find better, kinder treatments.

Website: https://Www.bcrt.org.uk/freddiesfuture

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? The world!! We are such a small charity fighting such a big thing. We get overlooked compared to larger charities as we are not as well known. To have advertising such as this would be HUGE for us and help us raise awareness of our charity more than anything else we have ever had. We won’t stop fighting until there is a cure for children with bone cancer. But we can’t deny a big bus load of help would be absolutely amazing! We are so passionate about helping children like Freddie live longer, better lives with less side-effects from the brutal treatment they receive that is more than 40 years out of date.

Maggie's homepage

Maggie's Oxford

Submitted by: Sophie Coyle

About Maggie's Oxford: Maggie’s is a cancer care charity, based in the grounds of the Churchill Hospital in Oxford. We know that when you’re diagnosed with cancer you need more than just medical treatment. Inside our calm and welcoming centre, families can seek helpful advice from our dedicated team of cancer support specialists, psychologists, and benefits advisors. They can speak to people who understand the challenges they are going through, get counselling and family support, such as how to talk to their children about cancer, or they can simply find a peaceful place to sit when they’re feeling overwhelmed. We focus on the things that really make a difference, like money worries, dealing with stress and depression, managing side effects of cancer treatment, and support for the whole family. Our programme is always free and we welcome anyone affected by cancer, at any stage, for as long as they need us.

Website: https://www.maggies.org/our-centres/maggies-oxford/

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? We know our expert support has impact, and we want to reach more people and keep growing to be there for everyone who needs us. After visiting our centre and speaking with our support staff, 96% of visitors improved their understanding of cancer and 94% had more confidence speaking with family and friends about their diagnosis. Our visitors include people living with a current or past cancer diagnosis, their carers, family members and close friends as well as those bereaved by cancer. Everyone needs something different, and we work with each individual to identify support from our programme that is the most suitable for them. People come to us when they need advice on nutrition, hair loss, guidance on how to interpret their blood test or help telling their family that their cancer has returned. Advertising is vital to help Maggie’s reach more of the local population who are affected by cancer, as on average, we only reach about 47% of the cancer population in Oxfordshire. Winning ‘Brand The Bus’ would enable us to reach more people and reassure people with cancer and the ones they love that they don’t have to face cancer alone. One in two of us will get a cancer diagnosis in our lifetime; Maggie’s really is needed now more than ever. ‘Brand The Bus’ would help us raise awareness of our presence in Oxfordshire and ensure that we can be everyone’s home of cancer care.

About Sue Ryder: At Sue Ryder, we can’t make life’s most difficult moments easy, but we can carry some of the load. Dying and grief are universal experiences, but too many people face them alone. We are a safe and reassuring hand you can reach for; from providing care and support for someone at the end of their life to helping someone manage their grief. Our Palliative Care Hub is based in Preston Crowmarsh and supports people aged 18 and over who are dying from life-limiting conditions such as cancer, heart failure and lung disease. Our team of nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and befrienders combine specialist medical care for managing pain and other symptoms, with emotional, practical and spiritual support. Our wellbeing and community support team are here to listen too. Our Hospice at Home service is available 7 days a week offers a night service, giving care from 10pm-7am.

Website: https://www.sueryder.org/

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? At Sue Ryder, our vision is that no one should face death or grief alone. As we no longer have a physical hospice in South Oxfordshire, some members of the local community are not aware that we still provide vital care within the region through our Palliative Care Hub in Preston Crowmarsh. If we were to have our brand on a bus, we could let the local community know that we still provide palliative care within the area and that our services have grown so we can be there for everyone going through the worst times of their lives. We know that supporting a loved one through an illness can be tough on family members and our nurses can help take away some of the difficulties so that families can focus on being families. Our nurses are trained and experienced in providing the specialist care needed to treat people with life-limiting illnesses and they focus on going the extra mile to give people the best quality of life possible. In 2023/24 our nurses visited 151 patients across South Oxfordshire and provided 2,989 hours of care. We know that there is a growing need for palliative care in England, that’s why we are passionate about a future where everyone can access the quality of care they need and deserve. Our online bereavement support makes it easy for those who are grieving to connect with the right support for them – whether that's information and resources, qualified counsellors or a community of others with similar experiences. We provide free, expert services for people to get the compassionate support they need, at a time when they need it most. Too many people face dying and grief alone and we want to support our community and be there when it matters.

Age UK Oxfordshire

Submitted by: Emma Duckett

About Age UK Oxfordshire: Age UK Oxfordshire is a local independent charity aspiring for an age-friendly Oxfordshire where every older person and unpaid carer is seen, heard, included and valued. We support over 30,000 people across the county each year by providing free local information, advice, and a wide range of support services ranging from exercise classes and digital support, to telephone befriending and bereavement support – with much more in between. Our efforts help local older people and unpaid carers to live their lives to the full. Whether its reducing money worries, navigating major life transitions like bereavement or new disabilities, or helping those suffering from anxiety to engage in community activities and connect with others, we are here to help. With an ageing population in Oxfordshire, our charity's work has never been more needed.

Website: https://www.ageuk.org.uk/oxfordshire/

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? With the ongoing cost-of-living crisis and older people emerging from one of the toughest winters ever, the need for our charity has never been greater. The population of Oxfordshire is ageing, with 1 in 4 residents expected to be aged 65 or older by 2034. Our support is crucial in helping older people navigate these challenging times. Winning the Brand the Bus campaign and having an Age UK Oxfordshire branded bus travelling around the county would benefit our organisation in numerous ways, including: • Reaching offline audiences: Allowing us to connect with those who are not online, informing more people about how we can help. • Addressing ageism: Highlighting the issues of ageism in society and helping to change mindsets. • Raising awareness: Increasing awareness of our charity, which in turn boosts fundraising and volunteering efforts. • Promoting inclusivity: Making older people and unpaid carers feel seen and valued, contributing to a more age-friendly Oxfordshire. • Making buses seem more age-friendly: Motivating older people and unpaid carers to get out and about more, thereby reducing loneliness and isolation. On-board and radio advertising would significantly enhance our ability to reach more people across the county, especially those who are offline and affected by the ‘digital divide’. Please get on board with our ‘Brand the Bus’ campaign to help us share our messages across the county. Together we can ensure that older people and unpaid carers have the opportunity to live life to the full. Thank you.

We also offer homelessness prevention services to stop people reaching crisis point. When clients are ready, we help them to move on into private accommodation. In tandem, we offer a full programme of ETE (employment, training, and education) support. ETE support helps clients to improve employability, learn new skills, and boost their self-confidence. We also facilitate work experience schemes and share client profiles with employers. These initiatives guide clients to build a firm foundation for the rest of their lives. Whatever the goal of the client’s journey, we aid them to find wellbeing, hope and independence along the way. By supporting Aspire, you’ll help people take vital steps towards long-term change.

Website: https://www.aspireoxfordshire.org/

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? Between 2022 and 2023, rough sleeping rose 50% in Oxfordshire. The Oxford City Council reports that Oxford is the UK’s second most unequal city by Gini co-efficient. Nationally, the Office for National Statistics reports that homeless people have a life expectancy over three decades lower than the general population. As the cost-of-living crisis continues to compound these issues, it’s essential that Aspire spread the word about our work. Brand the Bus would make a huge difference for Aspire. It would help us to make local people aware of the support we offer and how we can help. As well as spreading our message to potential supporters, marketing allows us to reach a wider range of people in need. Aspire has grown considerably since its creation in 2001. With your help, we can continue to provide ambitious and meaningful solutions to homelessness and unemployment. Please vote for us so we can continue to support some of the most disadvantaged people in our community. Thank you.

Connection Support

Connection Support

Submitted by: Georgia Cox

About Connection Support: Providing homelessness and housing support since 1995, Connection Support has been a cornerstone of Oxfordshire for 30 years. Now serving Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes too, we help people overcome life’s toughest challenges. With 30+ services spanning homelessness and housing, mental health, families, young people, and refugee resettlement, we’re experts at life-changing intervention. Our mission is simple: help people become safely and sustainably housed and achieve lasting independence. Last year alone, we provided tailored, trauma-informed support to over 5,000 people through our staff and volunteers working collaboratively with our partners. Our vision is to prevent homelessness and mental health crises from happening, but for when they do, we’ll be there to help every step of the way. Perhaps one client put it best when they said: “I had a mountain to climb, and it was you that gave me the equipment I needed to do what I once thought was impossible.”

Website: https://www.connectionsupport.org.uk/

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? It’s a milestone year for Connection Support as we’re celebrating our 30th birthday. For three decades, we’ve provided life-changing support to people across Oxfordshire, and yet many people still don’t know we exist. With bold ambitions to be a thought-leader in the prevention of homelessness and mental ill-health, a branded bus would help us change that. Our Prevention First strategy lays out our vision for the future: we want to provide innovative services that help to prevent crises from happening. To do this, we need public support. This opportunity would give us a powerful platform to showcase the lives we’ve changed and the impact we’ve had, deepening our connection with the communities we serve. With this kind of visibility, we could put real stories front and centre - like James, who found security after sleeping rough, or Nesrin, who finally found hope through our refugee resettlement project. Last year alone, we helped over 5,000 people in their time of need, and with this kind of exposure, we could help many more. Reaching thousands through the bus itself, onboard advertising, radio coverage, and the Oxford City Football Club partnership, we could engage new audiences, inspire action, and attract the vital support we need to sustain and grow our work. Increased awareness would also help us secure diverse funding streams, which could be put towards designing and delivering innovative, needs-based services that address the gaps we see in available provision. In short, this opportunity would help to ensure that the next person who has a mountain to climb doesn’t have to do it alone.

Mental Health and Homeless Charity for Adults, Youth & Housing in Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire - Response

Response

Submitted by: Emma Murphy

About Response: We are a mental health charity offering comprehensive support, from providing mental health services and accommodation to fostering emotional resilience in young people. Response delivers multi-layered assistance at any stage of an individual's mental health journey, serving communities in Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, and beyond.

Website: https://www.response.org.uk/

What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? Branding a bus for Response would significantly raise awareness about our charity and the vital mental health and housing support we provide. Despite being one of the largest mental health and housing providers in Oxfordshire, we have very low brand awareness. Many people in our community don’t know who we are or how we can help. A branded bus, travelling through the areas we serve, would act as a moving billboard, reaching a wide and diverse audience daily. It would make our presence known, helping to break down stigma associated with mental health by visibly showing our commitment to supporting those in need. This visibility would not only increase awareness but also encourage people to seek help, knowing that Response is a trusted and accessible source of support. It could help people recognise that they are not alone and that help is available, potentially reaching those who might not otherwise engage with mental health services. Branding the bus would also strengthen our identity, making our mission and values more recognisable. It would help establish a stronger connection with the community, building trust and familiarity with our services. This could lead to increased engagement, whether from people needing support, potential volunteers, or donors wanting to contribute to a cause they see actively working within their community. From a fundraising perspective, the branded bus could attract new supporters and partnerships. Local businesses and stakeholders would see our impact daily, potentially encouraging sponsorships or collaborations. This is especially important now as we are facing a £200,000 shortfall due to the national insurance increase, which hits us hard as we employ a large number of support workers. Raising our profile could open new funding opportunities at a time when we really need them. Overall, branding a bus would not just promote our charity but also communicate hope and accessibility to those who need our services the most. It’s a strategic move to enhance our visibility, build community trust, and ultimately expand our reach and impact.

The £100,000 advertising package, including a year-long, full-wrap advertisement on a double-decker bus, onboard bus advertising, radio spots on Get Radio, and being named Oxford City Football Club's charity of choice for the 2025 season, would amplify our efforts to support those affected by breast cancer. Branding a bus would help us to engage people from all walks of life and backgrounds. We require a diverse range of volunteers to share skills (e.g., teaching a workshop, providing a professional or technical skill, etc.) and help us continue to nourish our community's environment and reduce waste. We seek to help other organisations and community groups across Oxfordshire reduce waste and loneliness in their communities through sharing our resources and learnings we've developed from years of research and community-led projects. What would branding a bus mean to your organisation? Winning the Brand the Bus competition would be a game-changer for Alexandra House of Joy, dramatically increasing awareness of our mission to support adults with complex learning disabilities. As a small Oxford-based charity, we are passionately fundraising to build a specialist day centre and respite facility, designed to enhance lives, provide essential care, and offer much-needed respite to families. A fully branded bus would bring Alexandra House of Joy into the public eye daily, travelling across Oxfordshire and inspiring thousands of people to learn about our cause. This exposure would help us: • Attract vital donations to make our vision a reality. • Engage volunteers and corporate sponsors who can offer skills and support. • Reach families in need, ensuring those who would benefit from our centre know about it. Additionally, the radio and digital advertising would allow us to share personal stories, highlight the urgent need for specialist adult disability care, and rally community support. Being Oxford City Football Club’s charity of choice would further establish us as a trusted, community-driven organisation. For too long, adults with complex disabilities have lacked dedicated support. Winning this competition would give us a powerful voice and a moving presence, helping us turn our dream into a reality - a place of joy, dignity, and inclusion for those who need it most. With a branded bus, we wouldn’t just be raising awareness - we’d be driving change.
