Shunter/Yard Person

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated Shunter/Yard Person to work within our team. This role is reporting to the Engineering Manager and Supervisor, working predominantly overnight on a rota (any 5 from 7) basis. You will be working a minimum of 40 hours per week and will require flexibility in your start and finish times according to business needs.

Your main responsibility will be to assist with the movement of vehicles between the Cowley House Depot and Unipart, however, you will also be required to take replacement coaches out to breakdowns for our coach operations, as well as assisting with general engineering tasks as requested by the Supervisor on duty. A pool car is available to use when required. 

Main Duties Include: 

• Assisting with basic vehicle & property servicing tasks & checks, including jump starts and fluid level checks. Full training to be given.

• Shunting vehicles to and from Unipart. 

• Assisting with engineering bus movements, including changes in service 

• To plug in and remove chargers from EVs (electric vehicles) 

• Assisting with preconditioning set up on the EVs 

• Vehicle movements and changes for Pearces’ Coaches & all other coaching operations 

• Road testing for engineering 

• Assisting with vehicle movements to meet operational needs 

• Movement of parts and other items between OBG depots 

• Undertake any other duties and responsibilities of a similar nature or level of responsibility that may be allocated from time to time by a relevant manager 

• At all times be an ambassador of Oxford Bus Company and bus use in general 

• Operate in line with the company's vision and values and encourage others to do the same

You must have held a PCV license for a minimum of 3 years, have valid DQC and Tacho Cards, and have a good knowledge of EU drivers' hours and coach driving in general. A good knowledge of Oxfordshire and the surrounding areas is also important. You will need to be a team player and willing to be flexible in your approach to tasks.
